First Annual Duc Bark

By James Wilde
September 9, 2006

Mario’s BBQ and Italian bike show was the site of the first annual Duc Bark. Mario’s BBQ / Bike show is the biggest DOC event in the Midwest. This year Desmodromiclub of Kansas City along with Cycle Cat and Sprocket Specialists hosted the first annual Duc Bark.

The Duc Bark is a sound contest. Contestants rode their Duc’s around a circle drive in front of the area where the BBQ /Bike show was held. This year's judges were John A. and myself. With thunderstorms lurking in the area many people braved the weather to attend this year's BBQ /Bike show and compete in the Duc Bark.

The Duc Bark turned out to be a very popular event with many entries. John and I graded each Duc as it made its pass around the circle drive. There where many sweet sounding Ducatis.

When all the votes where tallied this year's first place trophy went to Dave Wuthnow of Gladstone, MO on his Sport Classic with “stingers”.

Second place went to Larry Mullin of Shawnee, KS on a Monster S4R. Dave received the Cycle Cat trophy, a coupon for one set of sprockets and a T shirt from Sprocket Specialists. Larry received a Sprocket Specialists coupon and T shirt.

Desmodromiclub of Kansas City gave away door prizes and gifts throughout the BBQ / Bike Show, with drawings held every 15 minutes. Vicki Smith donated some Ducati tattoo’s that proved to be a big hit with young and old. We had free items for those who attended such as posters Ducati pencils, decals, and patches.

The Desmodromiclub booth was the hot spot of this event, complete with my quacking Duck horn. We would draw a ticket and play the Duck horn as we called the winning number.

This year's event was a huge success because of the hard work of all the Desmodromiclub members and the support of the following people who donated everything from Tattoo’s to T shirts, kickstand pucs and gift certificates.

A grand time was had by all who attended this year’s event. Once again this year Mario out did himself, serving up his delicious and famous BBQ.

With many bikes on display this year’s event had something to interest everyone. ---Wildeman
